I'm reading *Unweaving the Rainbow* by Richard Dawkins at the moment. His central theme is that the anti-science poets, Keats, Blake, Fay Weldon, would do well to celebrate the wonder of science rather than denigrate it.

Nope, I don't get it either. Is he saying "don't you know who I am?", like the celebrity getting done for shoplifting? Or is this another one of those confusing bits of the Bible that can be made to say lots of different things, according to need?

I just looked up the reference in John, and it seems to be Jesus burbling on about a well. What exactly is the point being made?
With regard to Dawkins' financial rewards, a large slice of his income goes back into the Richard Dawkins Foundation, which promotes secularism worldwide. And he wouldn't be the first person to make money from religion. I wonder how much the bishop made? Not that it's an argument for or against either book. -

Take Dawkins with a pinch of salt. He writes well and argues coherently but hasn't read [ or perhaps he has misunderstood ] the first letter of John chapter 4 v 7 - 12. I doubt if he has read the late Bishop John Robinson's book ' Honest to God '. Anyway he is probably making a lot of money purveying his anti religious views.
